We are a Chinese family who planted their roots in this South American country --Venezuela. My parents immigrated to Venezuela when they were in their early 20s. I was born and raised In Venezuela. Growing up in between two cultures, oftentimes, I felt that I do not belong to neither. I always thought I had to choose one over the other, either I am Venezuelan or I am Chinese. But in fact, I am both Venezuelan and Chinese. Hence, we want to create a safe space for those who once struggled about their identities by representing two different cultures in our dishes. To highlight this unique characteristic of Cantoo, our guests can find themselves eating a rotisserie chicken that merges Venezuelan recipe and Chinese cooking method.
